Dammit, I must decide between one of these but cannot.

Had my Hydra Deluxe for 4 months and sold it. It just doesn't sound that great. Considering it's all digital, it's like buying a really expensive VST, but doesn't sound as good. I ended up using VSTs like Dune 3, Hive 2, even Pigments and was using the Hydra as a midi controller. The filters can go to dog-whistle territory if you're not careful. So I have an OB-X8, a Minifreak and am looking for another Poly Hybrid. Considering the Novation Summit at the moment (not sold on that either). Might just bite the bullet and get a 3rd Wave and call it a day...

Sweet demo. I have an SCI Prophet VS and a Waldorf Microwave XT, this thing sounds very similar. Hopefully in the next release they will let you import your own single cycle waveforms.

Underwhelmed by the videos I’ve seen/heard of this synth … Sounds like a hybrid synth. And these were rather expensive, weren’t they? If so, it’s no wonder to me that Modal had financial problems.

I came for the comparison but that first track is an absolute banger hahaha I dunno why but the Super 6 just sounds like one of the best synths ever to me, and I've been in pro audio for decades, it just sounds "track ready" most of the time.

While it obviously is a great synth, I feel the Waldorf Q can do that stuff too. Or am I mistaken?

I had the idea that the waveforms might be designed to imitate real-world sounds, if I only knew which to use as transients, etc. Maybe these might create a good "wooden" sound, while those are more like a stringed instrument. But your initial comments about where on the freq spectrum these waveform choices are got me thinking I might be way overthinking this. I really appreciate you sharing how you fish through the waveforms looking for a good fit. To me, the waveform choices are a bit overwhelming, so this strategy is really helpful.

Finally got around to buying this collection, couldn’t be happier.

Am I alone in my opinion that I think the ASM sounds like a sharp sterile chip box? Its a nice blinggg but it sounds like having sex with alsways a condom.

Great video! It does sound like Seal around 18:56. Also it sounds like the pad in Yoko Kanno's "Space Lion", which I have been trying to get for sometime. Looking forward to checking out your other videos. Thank you!

That Pad Lead on the Summit is lush/juicy!! I think I prefer the more defined bass on the Super 6. With these settings here, anyway …. Both great synths!!

Chapters would have been preferred. i'd appreciate a faster and clearer follow-up of patches, without knob turning etc.

So, 3 years later. My Hydra is long gone(it even didn't last for 2 months) my Summit still in the studio since it came on the market...

novation has been going downhill their last ok synth was mini nova/ ultranova this is just a mcvst in a box with knobs lost all previous Novation signature sound. They did make good midi controllers which i have not sure how the new ones are now maybe they are crap too.

people are dumb and break out the wallet for marketing lets face it both of these are just vst synths in a fancy box with knobs

I have been attempting this for the last few hours, but the file type is showing up as RAW instead of ws6 even when I rename it. I think this is why when I add it to the folder it doesn't load in after resetting the synth, and the slot is empty and the file goes missing. Any idea what I am missing?

Owned a hydra keyboard and sold it and my iridium desktop so I could get the iridium keyboard. I gotta admit that hydra and iridium are the absolute best front panels in synths today. I loved the hydra. It is a better front panel than the summit but the summit sounds so damn good! I’ll grab another hydra sooner or later. Summit and iridium and system 8 together is plenty synth! I don’t have a lot of gear lust currently, But the hydra was fun fun fun!

.The problem is that the people that do the actual programming for most of keyboards don't really know how to create modern sounds. I don't know why since the days when Robert Moog created the Moog in the late 1960s (the world's first synth), very little has happened in creating modern sounds. It always takes good musicians or producers with an ear to tweak it to make the sounds modern. But, the actual piano keyboard companies like Yamaha, Casio, Roland, and even Studio Logic from Italy all have bad preset sounds. My friend Frank from ExclusiveLM is good at tweaking.
